Our Impact
House of Hackney is a restoration project in Nature, Craft, Community and Connection.  We want to go beyond simply ‘sustaining’ and instead, actively improve the world around us.
Our mission is to contribute to the regeneration of Mother Nature for the quality of life of all future generations, using our business as a force for good.
Read on to find out how we are evolving our products and pioneering a new way of business to support the thriving of all life on earth, now, and for the future.
Mother Nature, Our Director

Mother Nature, Our Director

In 2023, House of Hackney was the second company in the world to legally appoint a Mother Nature and Future Generations Director to our board. One year on, many organisations have followed suit and recognised the importance of Nature having a central voice in business.

Our Regenerative Journey

Our Regenerative Journey

Since the day our House was built, a sense of compassion for people and planet has served as the foundation of everything we do.

Hear from our founders Frieda and Javvy about why House of Hackney is evolving from a B Corp sustainable business, to a regenerative one.

Delivering on our mission is grounded in three key areas: evolving products to regenerate Nature’s resources, being activists and advocates for a future where all life on earth can thrive, and redefining what ‘good’ business should look like.

Our True Profitability

Our True Profitability

To become a regenerative business, as well as our financial health, we know we need to deliver and support good social and environmental health. To do this, we have begun to account for the full cost of the extractive impact our production has on Nature, including human wellbeing.

It is an important first step in overhauling our business ‘success metrics’, reporting on how our social and environmental impacts translate into financial cost.

Products & Materials

Products & Materials

Our True Cost exercise has shown us that 70% of our environmental and social impact comes from our cotton fabrics and 20% is from wallpaper production. This has focused our attention on finding solutions for these product categories, as well as continuing to experiment with new material and manufacturing innovations, such as mycelium and cork products.

Impact Report

Impact Report

We want to be accountable on our regenerative journey, that's why we are publishing our progress every step of the way. This shows our impact on Nature, including human wellbeing, and the steps we are taking to protect and restore it for this and future generations of all life on Earth.

Canopy Commitment

Forests are the lungs of the Earth, and we believe it is our responsibility to protect and preserve them. With wood-fibre one of our most used material, we want to do everything we can to limit our burden on the planet's precious resources. We have made the CanopyStyle and Canopy Pack4Good Commitment, in which we pledge to ensure that wood-fibre from Ancient and Endangered Forests is not used in our products and packaging.
