NATURE IS OUR BUSINESS

At House of Hackney, we truly believe that all flourishing is mutual, and by working together, we can create a future where all life on earth thrives.

We believe in the power of business to drive purposeful change. And we have come to realise that success for us means maintaining our profitable business, whilst still putting a purpose-driven mission over fast growth at any cost.

We have launched a debt crowdfunding campaign with B-Corp bank, Triodos and are issuing an 8.25% bond with the aim of buying out our Private Equity partners, so we have the autonomy to accelerate our mission to leave our planet better than we found it.

Join us as we create a business model that puts people, planet and profit on equal footing.

House of Hackney is a restoration project grounded in Nature, Craft, Community, and Connection. Using our business as a force for good, we exist to contribute to the regeneration of Mother Nature, safeguarding the quality of life for all future generations.

BUSINESS AS USUAL IS OVER

House of Hackney was founded in 2011 with a vision to bring the beauty of Nature into the home. From the outset, we sought to create more than just another interiors brand—we wanted to build a company with purpose at its heart.

With Mother Nature as our design muse, and on our board of directors, we believe it is our responsibility to hold ourselves accountable for the impact we have on the planet and the legacy we leave for future generations. Our mission serves as a reminder to us—and to those who follow—to work toward the long-term goal of restoring the natural world and becoming a regenerative business:

House of Hackney is a restoration project grounded in Nature, Craft, Community, and Connection. Using our business as a force for good, we exist to contribute to the regeneration of Mother Nature, safeguarding the quality of life for all future generations.

One year ago, we followed in the pioneering footsteps of Faith in Nature by making Mother Nature a legal director of our company, alongside Future Generations. Represented by an independent voice on our board, they ensure every decision we make considers its impact on the planet and human well-being. This groundbreaking step formalises Nature’s role as a stakeholder and holds us accountable for transitioning to a model that protects and restores more than it takes.

Our vision is to create a business model that moves beyond exploitative capitalism to one that honours Nature as our most vital stakeholder. To achieve this, we are calculating the ‘True Cost’ of our products, revealing hidden ecological and societal impacts, and setting ambitious targets to transform our materials and processes into regenerative ones.

We are also redefining what success looks like, moving beyond profitability to embrace metrics rooted in the health of people and the planet. Success, for us, means leaving the world better than we found it while maintaining a holistically successful company.

As we accelerate our path toward becoming a regenerative business, we are grateful to have found in Triodos a financial partner that aligns with our values, approach, and commitment to innovation. This partnership is rooted in shared purpose, supported by a customer base dedicated to driving positive impact through their investments.

As current stewards of the planet during this precarious time in history, this reparation work is our legacy. Our goal is to hand over replenished resources to future generations. Business holds the key to transforming our extractive economy into a regenerative one—one that heals our natural environment, strengthens communities, and ultimately restores ourselves.

We invite you to join us on this journey of transformation.
