BRUNEL Double Side Table - Oak
Each item sold enables House of Hackney to purchase and protect 35 square metres of forest thanks to our partnership with the World Land Trust Read More
Inspired by the soft arches of Brunel’s bridge over the River Tamar, recalling the organic Nature-inspired curves found in William Morris’ motifs, this handcrafted oak double side table evokes a sense of harmony, beauty and connection to traditional craft. Beautiful, useful and designed to last a lifetime, this is a true future heirloom.
From tree to table, each element is made-to-order at historic English cabinet makers, Titchmarch & Goodwin, using the traditional mortise and tenon technique, with no mechanical fixings. Each curve is adorned with a poppy rosette, an emblem of enduring beauty, honouring both Nature, and Morris’ legacy of the art of craft.
Made from responsibly sourced French oak, your piece will be stained with ‘Brown Earth’ pigment, and then lacquered, to bring out the natural grain of the wood and ensure it can be used for generations to come.

STEP 1: Measure the room
Before placing your order, be sure to map out the space where you would like the furniture to sit by laying masking tape or newspaper, corresponding to the design’s widest dimensions, onto the floor. You can find the dimensions of each House of Hackney piece under the ‘Product Details’ section of the individual product pages on our website. TIP: It’s a smart move to leave a little wiggle room either side of your chair or sofa, so that it doesn’t have to be wedged into place. Ideally, you want enough of a gap to walk around the piece – or nestle a side table or lamp next to it if desired.
STEP 2: Measure your home
Next, taking into account the height (H), width (W) and depth (D) of your chosen furniture, you will need to measure your home to ensure the piece can comfortably reach the room in which it will live – so think about the doorways, hallways and stairwells it will need to pass through to get there.
