Our Factories
Designed with purpose, made with love and built to last.
At House of Hackney, we don’t make ‘products’; we make 'future Heirlooms'.
Unique, authentic pieces that are inspired by the past and designed to be passed down to the next generation.
Upon founding our House, we spent six months travelling the length and breadth of the UK in search of the country’s finest craftspeople. We are proud to still work closely with these small-scale, family-run businesses today – preserving specialist, age-old trades (not to mention local jobs) while delivering unparalleled quality. Each design is a celebration of traditional craftsmanship and sublime artistry, made to stand the test of time. No wonder, then, that we call them ‘future heirlooms’.

Wallpaper
BORÅS TAPETFABRIK - VIARED, BORÅS, SWEDEN
Our wallpaper is printed at a pioneering factory in the heart of the Swedish countryside. Borås Tapetfabrik recognise that whether wallpaper is printed using techniques from the 1920s or 2020s, it still leaves an imprint on the world around us. Their consideration for Nature cuts right through every production process.
Borås Tapetfabrik source paper that is crafted using wood fibre from young trees, not Ancient ones, grown purposefully in a forest managed to the Forest Stewardship Council’s standards in Northern Europe.
Their creations are PVC-free and printed in small, made to order batches to avoid unnecessary waste using water based inks. Borås Tapetfabrik have spent more than a century learning, growing and becoming a forerunner in innovation and craftsmanship.
“We have been manufacturing wallpaper in Borås for over 100 years. Focusing on craftsmanship, quality and sustainability, we provide the world with first-class wallpaper” - Borås Tapetfabrik
Paint
BAILEY PAINT - STROUD, GLOUCESTERSHIRE & CWMBRAN, WALES
Historic company S.G. Bailey Paints Ltd started making paint in Stroud, Gloucestershire in 1896. Now, at the helm since 1989, Richard Townsend has become an expert at creating bespoke paints.
A part of the business since he was a teen working summer jobs, making things is Richard’s calling; creating colours from scratch, from pigment to paint still excites him 35 years on. We have worked closely with him to deliver our paint collection.

Flooring
AXMINSTER CARPETS - AXMINSTER, DEVON
We are proud to work with Britain’s oldest, best known and most prestigious carpet designer and manufacturer to create our flooring.
Axminster Carpets has been synonymous with carpet luxury and craftsmanship for over 250 years. Based in Devon, Axminster have been expertly weaving since 1755. Sharing our passion for sustainability, traditional craft and colour, the design house uses responsibly sourced British wool to create their unique ‘eight pitch Axminster’ weave, fitting in more wool per square inch, which, like a high definition TV, allows more pattern and colour, and results in a better quality carpet.
“We are very, very passionate about keeping weaving alive in Axminster. We already have really strong, sustainable credentials because we weave with British wool, jute and cotton, but we're pushing boundaries to see what next.”
