The Wonder of Winter: A Call To Nature

A message of hope from our Founder Frieda Gormley.

As the last leaves twirl their final dance of the year, the tree stands bare;

Stripped of its cloak, we shiver at Her tender vulnerability.

Yet inwardly, a quieter truth unfolds;

Nature tends to Herself,

Hibernating, conserving the essence needed for Spring’s grand rebirth.

The tree whispers its wisdom;

This is our season to Winter.

To turn inward, tend to the soul, and shed what no longer serves,
Preparing for our own blossoming when Spring arrives.

Let us honour the ebb and flow of the seasons,

And welcome the fallow moments of life;

Revelling in the stillness when the light grows faint.

For we are woven into this same cycle,

In the tapestry of life.

2024 has been a year of many seasons:

A summer of sorrow,
An autumn of awakening,

And now, the promise of a Winter of Wonder.

Nature has been a healing balm this year;

Revealing Her secrets as we step closer to Her

In Her exquisite orbit.

Teaching us, ever patiently,

To Be more Tree,
To Be more Steve,

Reminding us that We are Nature.

There is wonder in Winter

If we allow the awe in.

For our faculty of wonder is in danger of extinction

If we don’t tend to it with urgency.

Let us re-enchant ourselves in this shiny new year;

Rekindle the sense of wonder we are born with,

And cultivate it lovingly in ourselves and the next generations.

Let us fall back in love with Nature—

For in Nature  we can trust,

In Her beauty, we find truth.

As we cross the threshold of the Winter Solstice,

Remembering;

It is always darkest before dawn.
