AXMINSTER CARPETS -  AXMINSTER, DEVON

We are proud to work with Britain’s oldest, best known and most prestigious carpet designer and manufacturer to create our flooring. 

Axminster Carpets has been synonymous with carpet luxury and craftsmanship for over 250 years. Based in Devon, Axminster have been expertly weaving since 1755. Sharing our passion for sustainability, traditional craft and colour, the design house uses responsibly sourced British wool - one of the most sustainable materials there is - Comment end  to create their unique Axminster weave. 

History & Heritage

Hailed as icons of interior design, Axminster Carpets are the historic manufacturers of the world’s finest floor coverings – renowned for their centuries of artistry and expertise as well as their pioneering spirit. At the company’s Devonshire factory, the same looms and techniques of old are still harnessed, only now with modern technology added in to create magnificent patterns that would have been previously unimaginable.

Spinning a Yarn

Ever true to its heritage, Axminster is still family-run – now presided over by the fifth generation of Dutfields. It’s not unusual for the craftspeople to go back generations too, and for their own children to continue the legacy by joining as apprentices. In their downtime, weavers have been known to create personalised rugs for their families, imbued with a sense of love and storytelling that is tangible in every Axminster carpet – alongside all that skill and tradition, passed down to the carpet makers of today. So you see, to own an Axminster creation is to quite literally possess a little piece of history – one that you too would be proud to pass on to the next generation.
