Henrietta Dubrey - YOUNG LOVE
In stock - Please allow up to 5 working days for delivery.
Henrietta Dubrey's roots as an artist can be traced back to her time spent on childhood holidays in St Ives, drawing and painting with her architect father. Not only did these experiences determine that Dubrey would go on to become a painter, but the art she was grew up around – the Constructivism and Lyrical Abstraction of the St Ives School – also had a strong influence on her creative development.
Although Dubrey’s practice can be seen within this context, together with the influence of Pop Art and Minimalism, there is a depth of autobiographical and emotional response that transcends pure formalism. Combining gestural brush strokes with monochromatic grounds, sometimes countered with larger blocks of colour, there is a feeling of exuberance in her work that makes it stand out.
