Design Notes
Christmas with all the trimmings (well, fringing to be precise). Our festive floral WOODSTOCK cushion, trimmed in a decadent black fringe, features a cosmic meadow of velvet flowers adorned with our Yuletide icon, the magical Amanita mushroom. This folkloric fungi harks back to Christmas’s psychedelic origins, where it was given as a gift for Winter Solstice. Throughout Northern Europe, this transcendental toadstool was used in shamanic rituals; grown beneath the boughs of the pine tree, it is rumoured to be the beginning of our festive traditions. Santa robed in red and white, taking a trip with his reindeer to the celestial realm - if you have to visit every home in the world, you’re going to need a bit of magic.
The gift that keeps on giving; each cushion sold enables House of Hackney to purchase and protect 35 square metres of forest thanks to our partnership with the World Land Trust, the international conservation charity that safeguards our most vital natural ecosystems and threatened habitats, acre by acre.
